The crimes committed by York children have been increasing over the years, and a man is trying to keep young people out of trouble by giving them something to do.

Frank Quintin Jr., owner of Roll'R' Way, transformed the ice rink to attract young people.

"We just got rid of all the old boring paint in the beginning," he said.

Then there are graffiti, black lights and fluorescent lights.

"We are just trying to take it to another level. Explosive music. Play all the latest rap, hip-hop, rock and roll," he said.

It attracted more than 100 children on weekends.

Quentin said: “It’s really important for me to make sure that the kids who grew up in the same community where I grew up can do good and interesting things.”

He hopes that the skating rink will become a refuge-a safe place for entertainment.

He said: "We can eliminate some negative emotions and make you forget it temporarily."
