Yoliswa Dube-Moyo, Chief President of the Southern Bureau of Matabeleland Mnangagwa is expected to host the launching ceremony of the national drilling plan next week in Mangwe District, Southern Province of Matabeleland.

The country’s goal is to drill up to 35,000 boreholes in the provinces, which will be equipped with solar systems to support the president’s rural horticulture transformation plan.

The National Water Authority of Zimbabwe (Zinwa) has drilled and equipped a demonstration pilot solar borehole in Jinjika Village to supply water to nutrition gardens, fish ponds, flooding ponds and villages.

The Minister of State for Affairs and Decentralization of the Southern Province of Matabeleland, Abednico Ncube, confirmed President Mnangagwa’s planned visit at the recent Provincial Development Council (PDC) meeting in Guanda. He urged all stakeholders to play their role in order to Ensure the success of the plan.

"These development projects are not suitable for me or Zanu-PF. They are for the benefit of everyone. For the benefit of our province, let us unite and maintain a team spirit for this plan," the minister said.

Mrs. Marjorie Munyonga, Zinwa's corporate communications and marketing manager, said that they are also preparing for the plan, so the authorities intend to drill 35,000 holes nationwide by 2025.

"The 35,000 boreholes means that each of Zimbabwe’s 35,000 villages will receive a borehole. These boreholes are expected to support the President’s Rural Horticulture Program by providing water for village-level gardening and fisheries related projects,” she said. Say.

"The borehole will also provide drinking water for the community, and ultimately shorten the distance for rural communities to fetch water."

Ms. Munyonga said that Zinwa has already begun receiving the delivery of drilling rigs, which will be used in the launch plan.

The borehole plan is in line with the country’s economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which plans the policies, institutional reforms and national priorities needed to achieve the upper-middle-income economies under the Vision 2030 between 2021 and 2025 . --@约lithva
