Rob Cross is through to the Last 16 of the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship as his terrific form continues with a triumph over Daryl Gurney.

Cross came through an absolute thriller and admits he took his foot off the pedal after going ahead.

"It's like the saying you make your own heaven, you make your own hell. I had chances to get rid of it, I got a bit of edgy and started to look at I suppose the finishing line and then after that I sort of knuckled down and knew what I had to do to win," he said post match.

"I went 2-0 up and maybe I relaxed too much. I'm guilty of that anyway. I always used to do it even before I was professional. I used to go sort of 3-0 and then let him come back and try and get ahead again."

'Voltage' has been in hiding of sorts testing himself multiple times a day after Raymond van Barneveld his last opponent tested positive and he spoke about how all the work could be for nothing.

"Everyone works all year round to get to Ally Pally. You just don't help yourself, you're testing three times a day. You think am I going to come down with it and then that's the end of the World Championship. It's scary, it really is."

Which is the case for Michael van Gerwen who tested positive and Cross spoke also about his route with Anderson or White next.

"I'd like to say I feel sorry for him. It shouldn't really happen to anyone like that. Gary's a two time winner, Ian's a phenomenal winner and it's about getting my head down and making sure I'm right."
