Break out your Uggs and order your pumpkin-spice lattes. September kicks off the official and appropriate start to fall.

Sweater season is right around the corner and the morning air is already brisk.

Before you come at me, I'm aware that fall doesn't technically begin until Sept. 22 around 1:30 p.m. However, just like conglomerate companies that push Halloween candy in June, society also likes to jump the gun.

I was seeing "Bring on the pumpkin beer" and "Can't wait for the foliage" posts back in July and it made me shake my head (insert facepalm emoji).

Can't we just enjoy summer while it's here? Sure it's hot and often humid, but that's the price you pay for living in New England.

As far as when it's appropriate to break out the decorations and sip on hot cider, I'll go as far as Sept. 1. Anything beforehand is just too early for my liking.

This is not a scientific calculation, nor is it based on a survey; it's just my opinion.

By all means, if you want to carve pumpkins in August, you do you. My pet peeve is when seasons get rushed and holidays start blending into one another. That's how the magic dissipates.

For all the single people who survived summer 2022 without a "boo," brace yourself: Cuffing season is in the air and it's thick. So, go ahead, pick up some Shipyard Pumpkin Ale, indulge in your apple cider donuts and start planning your corn maze adventures.
